Why do a Survey?
Organizational Surveys are conducted for many reasons, among them:
- Pinpoint areas of concern. See how things are going.
- Monitor units that might unionize because of poor employee relations.
- Observe long term trends in attitudes.
- Monitor the impact of various programs.
- Provide input for future decisions.
- Perform organization behavior research.
- Use self-assessment as basis for change. Assist organizational change and improvement, e.g., change through continuous improvement.
- Provide symbolic communication to employees during times of change, e.g., downsizings, mergers and acquisitions, etc.
- Contribute data to a scorecard for evaluating and rewarding management at different levels
